Deb’s Gluten-Free Dog Days of Summer Favorites

A dog joyfully runs through shallow water, splashing around.

Most folks think of the dog days of summer as those hot, steamy days when it’s too hot for even the dogs to play. Clearly, that isn’t true for our favorite Golden Lab, Roscoe. But in reality, the origin of the phrase has nothing to do with dogs, or even with the lazy days of summer. Instead, it turns out that dog days refers to the dog star, Sirius, and its position in the heavens.

We think this could be Roscoe’s favorite time of year, since the river is warm and the water is slow enough to play fetch. Roscoe reminds us that there is a lot of summer left — so take a look at how we’re celebrating the dog days of summer out on the Gluten-Free Prairie!
